For this conversion the model is within reach: about 504 new columns on each side, 8 passes of about 19 seconds in total, after a one-time download you have to agree to. A blurred cover is what the page starts on, and it needs no download at all.

Measured on a 3024 x 4032 upright phone photo: a 4,032 x 4,032 canvas, 504 new columns a side. Open your own photograph and the rail recomputes all of it against that file. It continues a wall, a sky, a lawn, gravel, water or a soft out-of-focus background, because those carry on past the frame in a way that is predictable from the edge itself. Every limit, in one table.

A square around the whole photo, with the circle the app cuts drawn on top — and one press to fit everyone inside that circle.

Opens on 1:1 with a blurred cover and the circle preview on. The Place tab has the fit-inside-circle button.

What this does to your photo

The short side grows until the canvas is square, so nothing you photographed is lost. Then comes the part a square alone does not solve: the app draws your picture as a circle, and a circle inscribed in a square leaves the corners out. The overlay shows that circle on your own photo — on screen only, never in the saved file.

The awkward questions

How do I set a WhatsApp DP without cropping the photo?

Make the photo square by adding canvas, not by cutting: this page opens on 1:1 with a blurred cover filling the new space. Save it and set that square as your profile photo — WhatsApp no longer needs to crop anything to make it square.

Why are faces near the edge still cut off?

Because the app shows a profile photo as a circle cut from the square. The square keeps your whole photo, but its corners fall outside that circle. The circle drawn on the board shows what the app will show, and the line under it tells you whether your photo's corners are cut.

Can I fit the whole photo inside the circle?

Yes — press “Fit the whole photo inside the circle” in the Place tab. The canvas becomes a square as wide as your photo's diagonal, so every corner of the photo sits inside the circle. The photo itself is not resized; it simply sits smaller in a bigger square.

What size should a WhatsApp DP be?

WhatsApp does not publish a pixel size. What is observable is that the picture is shown as a circle cut from a square, so any square works; 640 pixels or more on a side looks sharp on phones.

Is the photo uploaded?

No. It is made square and saved by this tab, on your device.
